Which method to choose?
Lazer lounge can advise you when you have your free consultation.
It mainly is down to how quick you would like the tattoo removed.
How Long Does It Take to Remove a Tattoo?
The number of treatments required depends on the size of your tattoo, the quality of the inks used by the tattooist and the depth at which he placed the ink in your skin. Most tattoos take between 6-10 treatments, but some can take longer for complete removal. The sessions will be spaced approx 6 weeks apart for the best results. If you are looking for a fade down of the tattoo as you are having a cover up in its place we normally recommend four sessions.
What is R20 Instant Tattoo Removal?
R20 TATTOO REMOVAL
A fast and effective treatment for tattoo removal using the new R20 technique, we can remove your unwanted tattoos in just a few visits to the clinic. Regular treatments are normally spaced up to 6 weeks apart but with R20 technology, we can treat your unwanted tattoo up to four times faster than normal.
How does it work?
Traditional methods of laser tattoo removal use a one pass technique during one visit to the clinic however with the R20 technique, 4 treatments of laser tattoo removal can be done on the same day, with one session every 20 minutes. The laser is used to break up the large ink particles of the tattoo and small whitish bubbles appear immediately which the laser cannot penetrate through so you have to wait 20 minutes until they disappear. This allows the ink to be picked up by your immune system and filtered out through the body’s normal waste removal processes.
What results can I expect?
Complete removal is not always possible and some clients will be left with slight “ghosting”. A stubborn or colourful tattoo can take as long as 1 year plus.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments required will vary greatly dependent on the size and type of tattoo but with the new technique, you will be able to remove your tattoo within a much smaller period of time. You can have R20 laser tattoo removal in one visit to the clinic which would have normally taken 24 weeks using existing methods and return after 8 weeks for another treatment. A personal plan will be discussed in your consultation.
Patch Test
This treatment requires a patch test to be performed 24hours before the treatment. This is an essential part of our duty of care to protect you and your skin.
Are There Any Side Effects After Treatment?
Redness and swelling may occur, similar to sunburn. This settles within a few days. Some patients may blister, which is quite normal and does not indicate potential scarring. Please refer to the aftercare advice sheet.
The treated area should not be exposed to strong sunlight between sessions without the use of sunblock (SPF 30).
What is Q-Switch Tattoo Removal?
A Q-switched laser is the only technology that is able to penetrate down to the dermis and shatter tattoo ink without causing damage to the surrounding skin tissue. All other methods either aren’t capable of reaching and destroying the ink or cause too much damage to the skin, resulting in scarring.
Does Laser Tattoo Removal Hurt?
If you are thinking about laser tattoo removal, your most burning questions may be “Does it hurt?” and “How much does it hurt?”. Tattoo removal causes a certain amount of physical pain and irritation to the area being treated but it is not the same for everyone.
Laser tattoo removal has been likened by some clients to the feeling of having a rubber band snapped on your skin. Others describe it as a rapid succession of pricks. While some say it feels like someone scratching sunburn. Tattoo removal treatments on areas with more fat like the arms and buttocks are generally not as painful as areas where there is less fat or close to a bone like the neck, ankle or finger.
How Does the Nd Yag Laser Work to Remove the Ink ?
The laser emits a pulse of light that is preferentially absorbed into certain colours of ink. The light enters the skin at a speed that is too fast to heat the tissues (billionths of a second), instead, it produces a shock wave effect and breaks up the ink particles into smaller pieces, the body then recognises these particles as something that shouldn’t be there and attacks it. The particles are then removed naturally via the body’s own elimination system.
Will I Have a Scar?
No. When using the q-switched Nd:Yag laser and following the “aftercare instructions” provided, there is minimal to no scarring, from this procedure. However, in rare cases, those with scarring disorders, such as keloids, have an increased risk of forming a scar.
