INFORMATION
About Tattoo Removal
There are three main methods for tattoo removal: laser, dermabrasion, and excision. Each method has its pros and cons, and the best option for you will depend on factors like the size and location of your tattoo, your skin type, and the colour of the ink.
Laser Tattoo Removal
Laser tattoo removal is the most common method for removing tattoos. The procedure involves using a high-powered laser to break up the ink particles in your skin. The broken-down ink is then absorbed by your body’s lymphatic system and eliminated naturally.
One of the benefits of laser tattoo removal is that it’s non-invasive, meaning there’s no cutting or scarring. However, it can be painful, and you may need multiple sessions to achieve the desired results. The number of sessions required will depend on factors like the size and complexity of your tattoo, the age of the tattoo, and the colours used. Dermabrasion and Excision Tattoo Removal
Dermabrasion and excision are less common methods for tattoo removal. Dermabrasion involves using a special tool to remove the top layer of skin, while excision involves cutting out the tattooed skin and stitching the remaining skin together.
The benefit of dermabrasion and excision is that they can remove the tattoo in one session. However, they are more invasive and can be more painful than laser tattoo removal. Additionally, they can leave scarring, and the recovery time is longer.

FAQ's
What should I know about Laser Tattoo Removal?
Tattoos are much easier to remove than you imagine. However, not all tattoo removal machines can do that work seamlessly. Our medical-grade laser system at Lazer Lounge remove all ink tattoos, leaving your skin clean and clear.
We use the Q-switch tattoo removal that penetrates toward the dermis, shattering tattoo ink without damaging skin tissue.
Our tattoo treatments can take between six and ten treatments, which is way better than other tattoo removal methods. We space these sessions six weeks apart to help you achieve the best results and regain clearer skin, leaving no mark.
What are the different Tattoo Removal methods?
There are three main methods for tattoo removal: laser, dermabrasion, and excision. Each method has its pros and cons, and the best option for you will depend on factors like the size and location of your tattoo, your skin type, and the colour of the ink.
Laser Tattoo Removal
Laser tattoo removal is the most common method for removing tattoos. The procedure involves using a high-powered laser to break up the ink particles in your skin. The broken-down ink is then absorbed by your body’s lymphatic system and eliminated naturally.

Which method to choose?
Lazer lounge can advise you when you have your free consultation.
It mainly is down to how quick you would like the tattoo removed.
How Long Does It Take to Remove a Tattoo?
The number of treatments required depends on the size of your tattoo, the quality of the inks used by the tattooist and the depth at which he placed the ink in your skin. Most tattoos take between 6-10 treatments, but some can take longer for complete removal. The sessions will be spaced approx 6 weeks apart for the best results. If you are looking for a fade down of the tattoo as you are having a cover up in its place we normally recommend four sessions.
What is R20 Instant Tattoo Removal?
R20 TATTOO REMOVAL
A fast and effective treatment for tattoo removal using the new R20 technique, we can remove your unwanted tattoos in just a few visits to the clinic. Regular treatments are normally spaced up to 6 weeks apart but with R20 technology, we can treat your unwanted tattoo up to four times faster than normal.
How does it work?
Traditional methods of laser tattoo removal use a one pass technique during one visit to the clinic however with the R20 technique, 4 treatments of laser tattoo removal can be done on the same day, with one session every 20 minutes. The laser is used to break up the large ink particles of the tattoo and small whitish bubbles appear immediately which the laser cannot penetrate through so you have to wait 20 minutes until they disappear. This allows the ink to be picked up by your immune system and filtered out through the body’s normal waste removal processes.
What results can I expect?
Complete removal is not always possible and some clients will be left with slight “ghosting”. A stubborn or colourful tattoo can take as long as 1 year plus.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments required will vary greatly dependent on the size and type of tattoo but with the new technique, you will be able to remove your tattoo within a much smaller period of time. You can have R20 laser tattoo removal in one visit to the clinic which would have normally taken 24 weeks using existing methods and return after 8 weeks for another treatment. A personal plan will be discussed in your consultation.
Patch Test
This treatment requires a patch test to be performed 24hours before the treatment. This is an essential part of our duty of care to protect you and your skin.
Are There Any Side Effects After Treatment?
Redness and swelling may occur, similar to sunburn. This settles within a few days. Some patients may blister, which is quite normal and does not indicate potential scarring. Please refer to the aftercare advice sheet.
The treated area should not be exposed to strong sunlight between sessions without the use of sunblock (SPF 30).
What is Q-Switch Tattoo Removal?
A Q-switched laser is the only technology that is able to penetrate down to the dermis and shatter tattoo ink without causing damage to the surrounding skin tissue. All other methods either aren’t capable of reaching and destroying the ink or cause too much damage to the skin, resulting in scarring.
Does Laser Tattoo Removal Hurt?
Laser tattoo removals aren’t generally painful. However, our patients have reported getting mixed sensations that aren’t overly uncomfortable. Please understand that the feeling varies on various parts of the skin. Areas with thicker fat don’t feel as painful as those with any under the dermis. Some patients have related it to the feeling of having a rubber snapped at your skin. Others think that it’s more or less like someone scratching a sunburn.
You can book an appointment with us and get your tattoo removed as soon as possible. However, this treatment isn’t ideal for skin types IV and VI, brown to black.
How Does the Nd Yag Laser Work to Remove the Ink?
The laser emits a pulse of light that is preferentially absorbed into certain colours of ink. The light enters the skin at a speed that is too fast to heat the tissues (billionths of a second), instead, it produces a shock wave effect and breaks up the ink particles into smaller pieces, the body then recognises these particles as something that shouldn’t be there and attacks it. The particles are then removed naturally via the body’s own elimination system.
Will I Have a Scar?
We guarantee that you hardly would have a scar to live with from our tattoo removal process. Our Q-switched Nd: Yag laser and PICO laser are incredibly efficient to guarantee you that. Following the aftercare instructions should certify better results of the highest quality you long for from our treatments.
We usually recommend taking up to four sessions if you’re looking for a fade down of your tattoo. However, our high-tech machines remove your tattoo without leaving a mark behind.
